Matcha Drink Recipes
Traditional Matcha
Mix ½ to 1 teaspoon of Matcha powder with a small amount of water, make a paste and blend until smooth. Add remaining hot water to taste. You can add sugar, honey, or sweetener as desired.
Hot or Iced Matcha Latte
Blend 1-2 teaspoons Matcha powder with a small amount of liquid to make a smooth paste, then add hot or cold vanilla plant-based, or regular milk. Add sweetener to taste, and serve hot or over ice. Add a shot of white chocolate syrup for a truly blissful experience!
Cold Blended Matcha “Frappe”
In blender, mix 1 -2 teaspoons Bowen Island Matcha powder with cold vanilla plant-based or regular milk. Add ice cubes, ½ banana, sweetener to taste, and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Naomi’s Favorite
In blender, mix 1-2 teaspoons Matcha powder with cold vanilla soy, almond, rice, oat or regular milk. Add 1 pear (peeled), 5 dates, and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Pure bliss..
Matcha Zentini
1 tsp Matcha powder
1 ounce Godiva White Chocolate Liquer
1 ounce vanilla vodka
¼ tsp cinnamon
Shake well over ice and pour
Garnish with mint leaf and cinnamon
(can substitute cream and clear white chocolate liqueur or Godiva liqueur)
White Hot Matcha
1-2 teaspoons Matcha powder
Hot steamed milk or plant based milk
2-3 tablespoons white chocolate syrup or white chocolate powder
Stir well and top with foam
Sprinkle with white chocolate shavings…
Good to know…
When mixing Matcha drinks, be sure to make a “paste” with the Matcha powder first using a small amount of liquid. Slowly add remaining liquid and blend until smooth. (This is not necessary if using a traditional Japanese whisk or blender). As with any green tea, using boiling liquids can cause a bitter taste and decrease some of the health benefits. We recommend using hot liquids just below boiling point.
